Today was the first practice I've been able to make since Tuesday of last week. Missing practices has positive and negative effects: On the upside my connectives and muscles get a little extra time to heal, so I'm less sore. On the downside, it feels like there's lead in my hands and feet; Like every movement takes twice as much effort as it did the last time I tried. I have a goal until August to make at least two practices per week, every week. Keeping to that since starting back has really helped, so I hope sticking to it from here on out will as well.
That said, today was my first practice doing forms with Sifu watching. I was a little apprehensive, since he hadn't seen me do all of Chugi quanto before; It turned out well, though. It's very motivating to do the form in front of everyone. All that chi and encouragement really amps you up. I also got a little instruction on Pubu and Xiebu from Shu, who is a great teacher. Essentially, everything about practice was great except for the off-for-a-week weakness. Hopefully I won't have to deal with that again.
